Thor Tampers   

Palm Tampers have been the rage in Europe.   I have sold several of them.  I use one and I find there are some advantages.  I am in the process of building this page.  Stay tuned for more information on Palm tampers.   If you are interested in one before I finish this new page, email me.



Each tamper is fit to the particular basket that the machine takes.  I have baskets for 45mm; 49mm; 51mm; 53.4 (LaSpaziale) and 58mm.

Advantages of the Thor Palm Tamper over other Palm or "Push" tampers:

It is made from beautiful wood, not cold metal.It is core weighted so you have aa nicely balance tamper with good feel.It has a Corian base that will not dent or mar your portafilter.

It has a textured ring that gives a nice grip for turning the tamper for the final polish It has a concave top that helps center the palm.

It is much less expensive.  A basic Palm Tamper is going to cost $65.00, this includes shipping. Some will be more based on the cost of the wood 

Each tamper is going to be sized to a specific basket.  For example the 58mm will be 58.35mm.  

The best way to get one of these tampers is to have it custom made.  The LaSpaziale tamprers will be made using the double basket. 

The 49mm tampers will be made using the Elektra double basket.

What my tamper won't do is change its head space on the ridge that is easily adjusted by changing your dosing.  A few weeks ago on a LaSpaziale, we dialed in 19 grams and the shots were very repeatable.
