I don't want to forget my roots!  My first espresso machine was a Saeco machine that takes a 53mm tamper.  The first Thor Tamper was a 53mm.  Most of the big box store tampers take a 53mm.

The Francis Francis is the most popular machine that takes a 57mm tampers.  For the money, I believe these are one of the finer machines in that price range.
